The exhibition on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the 
Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava
presents the works of its students and graduates created in the past three to four years. We find it necessary to perceive and use 
this presentation as an opportunity to make some kind of a generational statement, inextricable from the social, economic, political
and other realities of the so-called generation Y – the millennials.

 Our exhibition concept does not aim to offer a balanced overview of each departments’
 student works. 
We do not focus on projects which would individually try to address the complexity of today’s phenomena and problems of the society. 
Nevertheless, the above-mentioned socio-political context keeps reappearing in the works’ details or directly determines their origin. 
We knowingly work with the assumption that eclectically intertwined fragments of these works in their broad variety of media 
and thematic scope can provide the viewer with a more comprehensive overlook on the current state of affairs at the 
Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, as well as outside its specific context.

 Through the absence of captions or specifically set borders for each work and through their interconnection the whole installation 
becomes an environment, an open platform based on equality, similar to what an art academy should be. The will to cooperate and the 
dissolution of rivalry between students is directly reflected in the birth of new artist collectives and cooperative projects without the 
need to declare individual authorship directly at school grounds.
