Chimera
Performative exhibition in collaboration with Nikola Balberčáková at Umakart gallery in Brno, Czech Republic, 2018
Curators: Tomáš Javůrek & Barbora Trnková
The author's conception of the chimera is based on the classical interpretation of a being composed of many parts.
This composition is highly imaginative, improbable and dazzling, but the sight of such a "creature" is always a sign of disaster.
In this sense, the creators look at the phenomenon of power, or the events associated with it, and examine this place.
"For example, when the dictator is respected because he has power, the manager is able to move his place of business as he is strong, or the dominant monkey female is able to take the best feeding places as she has a strong position.
The exercise of power is no longer the cause of anything but the formative virtue that causes the deep sleep of patients who have smoked opium.”
In their conception, they perceive an action, which is usually perceived as a manifestation (consequence) of some force (power) independently, emancipate it and reverse the whole causality of force-action or even ignore the force. "On the contrary, power is what needs to be explained by the actions of others who obey dictators, managers or dominant females."
In this way, they emphasize joint action, reject order and hierarchy, and perceive space only to the extent that it is made up of individuals (tokens) and their actions (vectors). Power is then a manifestation, an attractor of joint or individual action.
The authors appeal to the destruction of individualism and promote
“Radical Happiness’ - liberation that comes with transformational, collective joy.”
However, aware that such a procedure does not only bring positives, they invite us to the exhibition with the words:
"Come and connect with our collective love and catastrophe!”
